Got a Crooked Finger?
by Baeth Davis, Your “Love & Money On Purpose” Mentor
My mum has crooked little fingers. So did her mother – my beloved grandmother who we called “Grammy.” Writing this article on Mother’s Day, I’m pondering the inheritances from my mothers. Curiously, this marker showed up on both hands of my mum, my grammy and me.
Crooked little fingers, the kind that bend in toward the other fingers or lean in toward the palm, indicate trust issues. Sometimes these trust issues can cause a person to isolate from intimate contact or try to control situations and people to keep their anxiety at bay.
Nearly 13 years ago, when I became aware of my trust issues, I started holding my little fingers alternately, and when I did, I would remind myself to trust myself and trust life. I also reminded myself to speak up more often and communicate my real inner truth, not just what I thought would be pleasing.
Over time, my little fingers straightened. A straight little finger indicates a straight shooter – someone who says what they mean and means what they say. A crooked little finger can indicate stuffing of feelings, people-pleasing and intimacy shortages in one’s romantic life.
Fingers can grow, straighten and heal. Fingers can also become crooked, shorter or broken. The choice, as always, is yours.
Your Purpose Mentor’s Challenge: What needs healing in your life right now? Make a list. Then look at your hands. Does anything seem odd? Crooked fingers, arthritis, injuries, scars? Make a note of them. Do any of these hand oddities relate to current issues in your life? You might be surprised by the connections you make!
